Founded in 1971, AEBC is the only non-profit 501(c)3 bird club in San Antonio, and among the largest bird clubs in Texas.  The primary mission of the club is to promote avian education and does so in part, by donating thousands of dollars annually to worthwhile organizations, and hosting Bird Shows which help to educate bird breeders and the public alike on the proper standards for our birds.  The majority of these funds are raised by our Spring and Fall Bird Marts.

During our two Bird Marts, people come from all over the country with birds of all ages and species, bird cages, toys, playpens, books, seed and other bird related items.

AEBC publishes a monthly newsletter that contains fun and educational information of all aspects of the breeding and keeping birds in captivity.  Articles are written by veterinarians, breeders and pet owners.  The newsletter also contains upcoming bird marts, show schedules, club information, updates on legislation affecting not only breeders but pet owners, classified ads and much more.  A library containing various books, magazines, articles, and CD's on birds and bird related subjects is available to all AEBC members.

Our members have a wealth of information to share.  Most of our members have been keeping and breeding birds for many years and are able to help with questions and problems of all aspects of bird care.

AEBC meets the fourth Sunday of each month at 2:00pm at the Kirby Senior Center, 3211 Allen Sheppard in Southeast San Antonio.  The meetings feature a speaker on some aspect of bird behavior or care, a raffle and refreshments.  Visitors are always welcome, but please leave your birds at home.

Membership dues are $24.00 per year.  For information contact our
